Tennis in the United States is played on three kinds of places: public park courts run by a city or county, member clubs and country clubs with their own pros and leagues, and commercial tennis centers that sell court time by the hour. Public courts are usually free and first come, first served, with a posted limit (often 60-90 minutes when others are waiting); busier cities run online reservation systems with a small fee and a permit for the season. Indoor courts are rented by the hour and booked days ahead in winter. Most facilities are hard courts; clay is common in the Southeast and at private clubs, and grass is rare. Lights extend play into the evening at many parks, sometimes with a coin or app-operated switch.

Newport News is in Virginia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Newport News follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. I checked in on July 31 and discovered what appeared to be bed bugs in my room. Because of the seriousness of the issue, I was unable to stay there. I immediately reported the problem and reached out to management to request a refund. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive a response. I'm disappointed by the lack of communication, especially regarding such a serious health and cleanliness concern. I'm still hoping management will do the right thing and resolve this matter by issuing a full refund. Until then, I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone considering a stay.

The location was very very pretty you were able to walk across the street they had a huge pond type of thing with lots of fountains it was really pretty at night you could sit there and watch the sun go down. The food in the hotel was magnificent it was really really good hats off to the chef that night that we had it was beautiful service there was wonderful. The room was okay it was dated very old the curtains were not sewn anymore so they were fraying and they were bunching on the shears in the bedroom and on some of the walls and doors they were the wood was it was a very old looking room for the price you think that they would have kept it upgraded. The elevator be very careful because it closes very quickly and does not open we tried to get off and in the middle of trying to get off the doors were closing on us and would not open so we had to step back and ended up going up and picking up more people and then coming back down a pregnant lady was trying to get off and it closed on her Midway through her leaving so not a very good thing

Had a pleasant stay at the Newport News Marriott City Center. The hotel is very nice, modern, and exceptionally clean, and every staff member we encountered was pleasant and friendly. Even though the bar was very busy, the bartenders were incredibly attentive and kept things moving seamlessly. Since the lounge was closed over the weekend, breakfast was offered in the restaurant instead. The breakfast buffet was excellent—definitely on the better side of what you typically see at a hotel buffet. Highly recommend this property if you're staying in the area.
